Job Summary

This role blends market analysis, product development, cross-functional collaboration, and regulatory compliance to deliver competitive, consumer-focused offerings. Develops and maintains customer-centric product benefits, programs, and services that support achievement of organizational strategic objectives. Helps to lead strategy development, and implementation of innovative commercial and/or government program health insurance products that meet end-user needs (employer groups, individual customers, brokers, etc.) and drive business forward. Identifies and evaluates emerging solutions, partnerships, vendors or product attributes that enhance the portfolio, improve outcomes or differentiate the organization within the marketplace. Critical to both day-to-day product design management, as well as leading end to end design of new products/enhancements.

Job Duties

  • Focusing primarily on one line of business, develops and executes product roadmaps for:
    • Medicare Advantage Products (Medicare)
    • Individual and Small Group ACA products (ACA)
  • Fully insured, level-funded, and self-funded products (Commercial)
  • Develops flexible design constructs and product development processes that allow rapid iterative pro-typing and refinement of benefits, programs, and services, in collaboration with the market research team.
  • Designs consumer-centric benefits, programs, and services that drive improvements in quality measures, overall member experience, and cost trend.
  • Presents informative reports and recommendations to administrators and various internal and external audiences concerning product development and strategy.
  • Understands the process flow of the benefits, marketing communications, and rate filings processes and recommends changes to optimize efficiencies and ensure flexibility and accuracy.
  • Works collaboratively with other staff and multi-cross-functional teams, and incorporates internal data, metrics and key performance indicators, in product and member experience analysis as appropriate.
  • Continually monitors, analyzes and interprets market and competitive data in collaboration with the market research team, recognizing changes in market conditions and presenting findings to mid-level and senior management, and uses the information to inform product strategy recommendations.
  • Provides strategic direction and benefit design development and management, related to state and federal program bid development activities, playing a central role in the cross-functional bid development teams.
  • Ensures product designs maintain compliance with both state and federal legislation and guidelines where applicable.
  • Manages transfer of design specifications to the benefit configuration and implementation teams, as well as legal, medical management and marketing, to ensure product designs are accurately implemented, administered, and reflected in member and provider materials. Develops and conveys product strategy, design, target markets, and product performance measures, for presentation to leadership and affected stakeholders across the enterprise. This includes development of presentation materials and participation in leadership discussions.
  • Lead the assessment, selection, and integration of point solutions (e.g., digital health tools, care navigation platforms, behavioral health solutions, chronic disease management, virtual care, fertility, musculoskeletal, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the market research team to evaluate emerging vendors, technologies, and trends that align with employer group needs and enhance the member experience.
  • Collaborate with sales, actuarial, underwriting, operations, finance, marketing, compliance, and clinical teams to bring products from concept to launch.
  • Partner with marketing to develop high-impact collateral that supports product positioning, sales enablement, and market engagement.
  • Partner with Sales Training to support sales and account management teams through effective product education and training initiatives.
