Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Hospital Medicine
Job Summary
Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our established Hospital Medicine team in a 0.5 FTE, part-time capacity. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality inpatient care within a nationally recognized health system while maintaining an exceptional work-life balance. As a member of Geisinger's Hospital Medicine team, you will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practitioners, nursing staff, care management, and specialists to deliver comprehensive care to hospitalized adult patients. This role is ideal for an Advanced Practitioner who thrives in a fast-paced inpatient environment and enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Job Duties
- Part-time (0.5 FTE) position
- 7am-7pm schedule
- Inpatient hospital medicine practice
- Collaborative physician and Advanced Practitioner model
- Established nocturnist coverage
- Comprehensive specialty support available
- Fully integrated EPIC electronic health record

Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage hospitalized adult patients.
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory testing.
- Coordinate care with consultants, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently within Epic.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and professional standards.
Position Details
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility for licensure
- DEA certification or eligibility
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary inpatient team
Preferred:
- Prior Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, or inpatient experience
- Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
- Experience utilizing electronic health records
